There are not many professional basketball players that can say they have had 8 different Jordan signature sneakers dropped in their name. But Carmelo Anthony can say just that. The Melo M8 has just dropped and it is the eighth time Carmelo will be rocking a new model of an Air Jordan. A Jordan that has his name stamped on it. It will be the first signature sneaker he laces up to start a season in a new uniform. After last season’s trade that took him and Chauncy Billups to the New York Knicks, Carmelo starts fresh with a new shoe and plenty of new colorways to rock it in.
Three of those colorways dropped today. Two of them are quite appropriate for Melo and his new team. Both colorways feature the Knicks colors, one using a blue upper while the other uses a black upper. Yes, the days of Melo lacing up a pair of Jordan’s in University Blue and Yellow are long gone. The Knicks “home” and “away” colorways of the Melo M8 will now adorn the feet of Carmelo.
For games played at Madison Square Garden, Carmelo will rock the “home” shoe that features a predominantly blue upper with white patent leather and orange accents that include the Jumpman logo. The midsole features a Nike Max Air cushioning unit for maximum impact protection. The outsole of the edition is finished off by a translucent rubber outsole. The “away” shoe uses a predominantly black upper with blue patent leather and orange accents that, yes, include the Jumpman logo. Along with the Max Air cushioning system, this edition is finished off with a clean white outsole. Both shoes also feature a new Melo ID tag on the tongue that is a tribute to his family and Brooklyn heritage.
The third colorway that was dropped today uses a clean white on both it’s upper and the patent leather that accompanies it. The midsole is a combination of black and red while the Jumpman logo is done in red. Black laces and a white rubber outsole finish off the look. Hot on the heels of these initial three Melo M8 releases will be an all black colorway as well as cool grey colorway. These two are due out at the end of October.
This new Melo M8 signature sneaker might be the best looking shoe that Carmelo has ever had. The shoe’s sleek design and innovative performance technology used in making the shoe make it a perfect fit for any number of colorways. Throw in some patent leather and you have an epic pair of Jordan shoes for basketball.
